Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions RV owners ask before booking with us — from water quality to wax durability and more.
Here are a few questions you should ask other RV detailers before booking with them:
RV wax typically lasts 1 to 3 months.
How long it actually protects depends on three main factors:
• Exposure: Direct sunlight (UV rays) and extreme heat (110°F+) melt natural waxes quickly.
• Storage: RVs stored outdoors need reapplication every 2–3 months; those kept under a cover or in a garage can last 6 months or more.
• Product Type: Pure Carnauba wax is the shortest-lived (4–8 weeks), while high-quality synthetic polymer waxes (sealants) can stretch to 6 months.
Pro Tip: If water stops "beading" on the surface or the gel coat feels "grabby" rather than slick, your protection has worn off.
In Tucson our water is naturally hard and can easily leave water spots if not properly filtered. Our trucks have built in water filtration systems leaving your Coach, fifth wheel, or camper spot free. Very few of our competitors use spot free water, in fact, most just hook a hose or pressure washer to the faucet & spray the hard water onto your RV.
RVs are our specialty. It’s what we do every day since 2006. We also own & travel in our own full paint Class-A RV. As an RV owner we have a first hand knowledge & understanding of the needs of our customers. We use our RV for testing our products & training our new employees. Although, most of our employees have been with us for 5 years or more.
We use high quality waxes and we’ve priced our waxes based on there durability & hydrophobics with all of our waxes providing excellent gloss/shine with added UV protection. We offer waxes that last anywhere up to 3 to 6 months, 6 to 12 months, and 12+ Months. Look at our Prices & Services page for details about our different waxes.
Not everyone is upfront with the durability of their waxes. Many just buy what’s on sale at a local consumer store & have no real idea of the waxes abilities or inabilities. Some even use quick detailers intended for a quick & easy shine although they can look amazing they generally provide no protection or durability. Our waxes bond to the surface & can’t be easily wiped or washed off like some waxes.
Waxes are manufactured using 4 elements: Ease of use, gloss/shine, hydrophobics, and durability. Cheap waxes focus on ease of use & shine with minimal hydrophobics & durability many last as little as a week or your first wash. These also typically have little to no UV protection. All waxes react differently to the elements and the higher the quality and more durable the wax the better it is at fighting off those elements. We put a lot of research in to all our products including our waxes & do extensive testing to determine if they are truly up to our standards. These are the same products we use on our RV.
Most of our competitors send one guy to work on an RV. As you know RV cleaning can be a big job. We don't send just one guy, we send a team of workers. This allows us to double check our work from someone else’s perspective. It also cuts down on the time your waiting for the job to be completed. And when we’re done will give you an opportunity to review our work.
Most all of our competitors use cheap polyester brushes ($20-25). We’ve even see some competitors use stiff brushes intended for sweeping floors & sidewalks. All these brushes can leave scratches on your RV ranging from micro to major scratches. We use high quality very expensive Montana Original Boars hair brushes ($140-150). These brushes do not leave scratches. I’m addition we use a high quality professional ph balanced soap that lubricates the surface & gently lifts the grime away from the surface without stripping your existing wax. The type & quality of the soap you use makes a huge difference in the end results. Remember never use dish soap to wash an automobile as they are intended to strip the surfaces clean which includes removing less durable waxes.
The best towels you can buy are very expensive Korean split 70/30 blend micro fiber towels. These are the towels we use. Most of our competitors use very cheap 100% polyester or 80/20 blend micro fiber towels or cloth towels. These cheap towels can leave micro scratches on some paints our towels won’t.
Hydrophobic wax provides several practical advantages for RV owners, primarily centered around easier maintenance and surface preservation:
• Self-Cleaning Effect: Because water beads up and rolls off rather than "sheeting," it carries away surface dust, dirt, and light road grime. This can reduce your washing frequency by up to 50%.
• Oxidation Prevention: By creating a dense barrier, it prevents oxygen and moisture from reaching the gel coat. This is the best defense against the "chalky" white fading common on older fiberglass RVs.
• Stain Resistance: Sticky contaminants like bird droppings, tree sap, and bug guts cannot bond as easily to the surface. Most of these will rinse off with a hose rather than requiring heavy scrubbing.
• Water Spot Prevention: Since water cannot pool on the surface, mineral deposits (hard water spots) are much less likely to form after rain or a wash.
• UV Protection: Most modern hydrophobic waxes (especially those containing SiO2 or synthetic polymers) include UV inhibitors that shield the paint and decals from sun damage.
